Do you wear competition pool outfits? Thoughts?

When I play in a big tournament I like to just wear what I would normally wear at the office even down to the shoes. I have the fancy Oxfords with the molded soles rather than wood so they feel like sneakers. Typical polo shirt and slacks of course.

I'm thinking about a competition shirt with maybe my name. I want matching color shirt that matches my cue I will be playing with. I have some shoes to match the cues too. May feel like early 2000's. LOL

I have many friends that own their own businesses and they said they are willing to pay some fees if I wear their polo shirt but I don't want to do that. Realtors, restaurants, HVAC and a few professional service practices. Not sure if I want to go this route and they offered. Tournament entry fee and proof is a social media post. SMH I wish they would do it for travel. LOL

Anyone of you guys decked out in "competition clothes" or sponsored?

I've seen players whose abilities are somewhat less than mine (and I'm not that good) wear the Mosconi shirt-like patterns that all the top tier pros wear at the big tournaments, and quite frankly, I think they look foolish wearing them. I can't help but think the reason they wear them is to make their opponents assume/think that they are better than they are. Like a subtle form of intimidation. I could be wrong. They may have other reasons.

I wouldn't even consider wearing a shirt like that unless I could run at least a 3-pack on a regular basis. But...that's just me talking.

Good point.

I want a competition shirt but I have to see what material they are made of for breathability. Some of these pool halls I play at right now gets hot when people fill up the place.

I can understand when teams may get matching jerseys for nationals, etc. Individual amateurs wearing jerseys with their names on them look silly imo.
They are quite popular regardless. Now if a company provides you with clothing to wear and pays you for the exposure, I see nothing wrong with it.
Traveling to tournaments is expensive.

I try to think of these shirts as equivalent to the iconic bowling shirt. That is now worn by everyone and a staple in any man's wardrobe.

I guess I am looking to our equivalent of the "billiards shirt" something I leave the house in and everyone knows I'm heading to the pool hall.

Yeah, I don't think so. The day that that happens will be the same day I need to reassess my pronouns. If I need to wear proper slacks and a button down as per tournament requirements I'm fine with that but I have never considered how my "outfit" or shoes match my cue. 😏

I know a lot of people that will wear them at they gym but I don't know about playing pool. I wouldn't feel comfortable. At a gym no problem. I may wear shorts over them. Too casual for pool tourney.

Don't get a bowling shirt for pool. Just like you shouldn't wear a bowling shirt for golf. The current style is moisture wicking golf polos with pool themes and they work great. I have a couple from when I went to Vegas nationals. I also play a good amount of golf and have many wicking plain golf polos that I wear with nice jeans and nice black ecco loafers (very, very comfortable), which is about as much I would ever want to get dressed up for pool. An added bonus is most of these golf polo styles are longer than most t-shirts, so you help everyone else out by not exposing your plumber's crack when you are making a shot!
 
I wear what I normally wear which happens to be shorts or jeans a some sort of button up casual shirt. That's pretty much what I wear anytime I leave the house unless it's for exercise. A nice polo is always a good look too.

I don't mind the jerseys for top players, around here it's mostly the guys who are on teams going to Vegas that get them and then wear them for local tournaments...and they tend to be strong players.

Not a look I plan on adopting myself.
 
Also, dress shoes don't have wood soles....they're leather. Very hard leather that can look/feel like wood, but they're leather.
 
Only for those monthly tournaments. I know I don't want to look like a 'wannabe' professional.

I'm only asking because it gets hot in the pool room.

Electricity is expensive here in Cali and a lot of rooms have the AC off.

Cotton gets pretty warm.

No.

Only my Bruno Maglis have wood soles.

Let me preface and say my dress shoes are over $500- $1000 made in Italy or preferably in the UK. Which I regret collecting. LOL

Till I found $200 pair of Cole Haan. I know Cole Haan isn't very good but they are comfy for the office. They are throw away shoes and cannot be repaired but I am ok with it.
