I was wondering if anyone on the forum here knows anyone in the Florida Keys that would cheaply take me fishing for a day or two during the week of February 17th-24th. I will gladly help pay any expenses and gas even pay for time, I just don't want to spend $300-500 for a day of fishing.

Man that's cheap with gas the way it is these days. I can easilly burn $300a day fishing in my boat!

Let me revise this

I not talking about offshore fishing. I just want to catch some snook or reds on an inshore trip. That way we don't have to go all over the place burning gas. By the way the $300-$500 trip I was talking about, was sharing the boat with 4-6 other people. That adds up to $1500 plus a day.

Tulip, I lived in the keys for almost 20 yrs before moving here to the Bahamas. Still speak with a number of flats guides pretty regular... they're almost all getting between 500-600 per day for 2 ppl. Feb can be pretty busy time for them but if you poke around a few of the marinas in the early morn you might find one that's been cancelled for the day and willing to make a deal. If you're up in the Islamorada area try Bud and Mary's - quite a few guys fish out of there and you might get lucky.
If you're headed down the keys a way, try the same deal at Sugarloaf Lodge/Marina on Sugarloaf Key. If Key West, try the City Marina in the KW Bight.
Good luck,
bob

I don't really need a guide

I don't expect to go with a professional guide, I just tought someone may know a buddy that fishes down there, that might want a little company. I just love to fish, but don't have a ton of extra cash to burn.

Lookup canoe or kayak rentals for redfish or snook fishing inshore. Many other species may also be caught inshore. Use Mirrolures (floaters or slow sinkers), 1/8 or 1/4oz. jigs or weedless spoons (gold for redfish). Get a floating bait bucket and 2 dozen live pinfish OR shrimp and tie it over the side of the boat. Use a 6' stringer, tied to the handle of the bait bucket.

( if you can't have fun and catch fish in the Keys, you just aren't trying..... imo ) :)

*TIP: don't forget to spit on your bait.

What I meant to say, was: go to a poolroom or bar/lounge with pooltables and make friends with the local players and hint around about going fishing with them (you might have to buy some drinks and possible disrobe, though)
