Billiards or Pool column, where local national & international coverage is given?

Well, that's too bad. Give 'em a call & request some coverage. Send 'em a link to the DCC Extravaganza. Let them see the pictures of the thousands that are watching this great Sport.

Get a petition started to request Pool N Billiard coverage by your newspaper & TV Stations. Let them know you want to see & read about this great game.

Our local big daily is the Arizona Republic, owned & operated by Gannett New Service,

they pretty much do not cover anything in sports except those venues that advertise with them.

We alsohave couple of the regional small newspapers that do occasionally cover some pool in the retirement communities when they are hurting for a feature news filler.

The Newspaper business is a dollar and cents business, that is focus around printing bad news, and Pro Sport like the NBA, NFL, MLB, Pro Golf, and a little High School sports news.

I am sure the Arizona Republic will cover the heck out of this years Super Bowl as it is in Phoenix and a big money event. Plus it is also big advertising dollar$ for the Arizona Republic.

We use to have two local Pool Newspaper one being the Arizona Billiard News that Mike Howerton (AZHousePro) ran until a few months ago. Mike sold the Arizona Billiard News to a guy from Georgia that ran Arizona Billiard News into the ground in 4 month, and it is gone.

Plus Billiards Table Talk that is kind of a advertiser, full of pool room/bar ads, with little editorial coverage, but lot of half clad ladies, and strippers.

Plus we have a REGIONAL Newspaper being distributed in Arizona called The Break that is North West Coast orientated, and real will done.

you gotta be kidding; any coverage in a small town newspaper in the south is controlled by the baptist churches.

the local editor would be burned at the stake for even taking an ad from a poolroom. I had a room, went to the "first" baptist church to listen the the self-righteous reverend "rail" about the poolroom ruining the morals of the local youth.

he had no answer for me when I questioned the fact that the three major churches in my town all had pool tables in their rec rooms.....lol.

preacher, save yourself !

I can understand a small newspaper being a bit too cautious in what they print, but the larger city rags should cover Pool Leagues & maybe some major tournaments, because their readers play pool.

If the public doesn't make requests, the idiots running the newspaper don't know what to print. The government tells the newspaper what to print, so lets all act like we're part of the government & make our demands.

Seriously, the Pool Playing community is a cross-section of the community. I for one would like to see this Sport of ours get some respect & attention. If the idiots at the newspaper don't see the gambling & drugs at the country clubs, football & basketball games & so on. Well maybe we should bring it to their attention.

In TEXAS & other states, they have added Pool & Billiards to the some High School curriculums. Those kids aren't druggies or gamblers, they are all required to make good grades & get along well with each other. They are going to someday be adults & they will want to read about the sport.

When the folks that don't know or understand the game, start reading about the game, maybe more attention will be given to our sport. Anything is possible, we just need to be a "squeaky wheel & get some grease"
