Dominant Eye-another view

Hal's core CTE is decades old, definitely long before I was born.

The "controversy" is definitely new. Nobody prob had a clue about what CTE was before 10-15 years ago; but the technique itself goes WAY WAY back.

Are you debunking Hal's claim that he invented CTE?

We have heard that certain old-timers might have used something similar. Lassiter? Nagy? Moore? But I don't remember any first-hand information to that effect, just inferences from videos or vague recollections.

Are you saying that Hal's core CTE (sight CB center to OB edge, offset stick inside or outside, pivot to center CB, shoot) was definitely used decades ago?

Hal told me it is his invention, not something he got from anyone else (and certainly not from Greenleaf, as we have already discussed). Was he intentionally lying? Did he invent it himself but didn't know that others had beaten him to it? Or did he really create something that is different from whatever those pivoters of yore were doing?

Not to change the subject here but have any of you every seen Don McCoy
Play? Talk about some ones cue going from center edge this guy stick starts center goes towards edge more then once during his stroking.

I've seen Don play lots of pool. I've played with him in league and elsewhere especially in the 90's.. He taught me most everything I know.

One time I wanted to show him an aiming technique I was working on and he said he didn't want to see it as it might screw up his technique. He tried it anyway just to be polite, I think.

Don told me, when I asked about his using spin on almost every shot, that he uses whatever the shot calls for. I was like, der, that makes sense. Now, I use spin on most shots, too, to make 'em but also for fun....that's one of my downfalls, I have too much fun vs. winning.

He never described his aiming technique to me. If I see him soon, I'll ask, as he's not competing much anymore and might be willing to share it now.

Are you from Des Moines? Do we know each other?

Don pretty much taught Scott Frost how to play 1-P. If you can find Scott maybe he knows?

This is a great point!!!...I've always believed I could make any shot by just looking at the edge (opposite the pocket) or the center of the object ball and let my SUBCONSCIOUS determine how much to "cut it"..In my Ultimate Pool Secrets I show there's only 8 total angles (4 off center and 4 off the edge), and one is straight in and the other is a severe cut....This is childs play for our subconscious that can basically create hundreds of different angles if we needed..SO..I just use the center or edge of the object ball as REFERENCE POINTS and the less of the cueball I connect to the given Reference Point the more of an angle is created.....and that's the way I've always described it Creating Angles which emplies Feel rather than Vision..I feel the angles with my eyes. I'm a firm believer of the more you know the better a decision can be made and the better you will understand the whole.

With all the hype about the dominant eye in aiming, I thought this needed to be presented to give a balance view of the dominant eye and how vision works

Flame away all you want, cause remember I could care less what most on here think.

If you are running a series of tests to prove a theory, one false result is all that is needed to disprove that theory.

The notion that there is a certain position the eyes need to be in to make a shot can be easily disproved with several shots. Here is just one. Cut the red stripe ball into the upper corner without using a bridge. The only way to do this is to hold the stick out over the table, no where under your face, chest, or eye. Oh, btw way, I made that shot just as I described.

In the real world of pool, the balls do not always lay in the idea shooting position and you need to be able aim tough shots like this.
