Dominant eye switches when shooting jacked-up?! Or is it still my stance?

Hey there,

On normal shots (i.e. cue parallel to the table bed), if I put my cue slightly under my right eye (halfway between center chin and right eye), I'm shooting straight. When there's some unintentional side/English, it's roughly 50/50 left/right. It was a long journey of more than a year with lots of experimentation on my stance, grip, walking into the shot, etc. What finally did it for me was accepting that my dominant eye was my right one, even though I still think it should be my left or both eyes equally. But for about 2 months now (10 hours a week), I've been very pleased with the straightness of my stroke.

Or should I say I was...

When I shoot jacked up shots, I constantly hit the cue ball on the left side. But if I now put the cue slightly under my left eye, the stroke becomes straight again. For slightly raised shots, my sweet spot is center chin.

What do you make of that? Is there still some flaw in my stance, or can it be that somehow the eye dominance shifts when viewing the table from different heights?
I'm going to record a video soon.

Thank you for your time and comments.

Sounds like a stance issue to me. You're probably doing something that places the cue off-line as you approach and stand taller, and you are making a compensation to correct it.

You're going to have to troubleshoot it by breaking it down inch by inch right from the first step of your approach.

Try looking at the CB last when you shoot these jacked up shots. Normally you would look at the OB last. Break, kicks, jumps, and masse's are normally CB last. A jacked up shot would fall under the "masse" catagory of where to look last. Try it and see if it works better for you.

I am taking a guess that you are missing the shot to the short side.
If you are missing the ball on the short side (Over Cutting) send me a message, I have your fix.

You can set up 20 shots or more and keep track if you are missing long or short.
Most times one side dominates.(Usually Short)

If you are missing long,(usually not the case).. I have that fix also, send a message.
You may become aware of why you are missing and make the adjustment naturally, watch your feet.

I don't think it's your eyes

When shooting jacked up, try squinting your left eye .... to force your desired dominant right eye focus.

Apology

I was sent a P.M that I did not respond to.
If you did not receive a response please resend the message, somehow, someway it's deleted and I can't find it, apparently I deleted it. I did read it and had all intentions to get back to you.
The message began with ,,,,,I AM CURIOUS....that's all I remember, sorry.

All messages were responded to but yours, again, I apologize.
There were over 20 messages, somewhere I lost it.

I have been on back to back fishing trips and went brain dead. I am leaving for another trip on Sat , the fishing is good, I promise to get back to you

Sincerely: SS
