Double standard in the pool arena!

Reading the post about why Earl was thrown out reminded of what happened the first night. I was on the VIP side so I heard the conversation. I can't remember what two players it occurred between though the opponent didn't show up with in the 15 minutes aloud and the ref called for a forfeit. I swear 2 minutes after the guy left the arena his opponent showed up. I heard him ask why no one called him he had apparently been given a wrong time for his match and thought he was early. I clearly heard that a hole ref tell him hes a big boy and it's his responsibility to know when he plays! Now I agree with that... Your a pro act like it. Be on time. BUT there is definitely a double standard. He clearly doesn't like Earl. I don't agree with earls antics but he did have valid complaints. He just needs to learn to handle them more professionally and not bang his cue stick on the table and scream at the fans!

It is the players responsibility to know their scheduled match time. Period. End of discussion.

Here are some things that you (obviously) don't know. The guy that was forfeited did not go to the tournament desk to ask the TD or the TD's assistant what time his match was. He went to the guy working the door (taking tickets) at the entrance of the general admission section.

The TD specifically told a very good friend of mine that he hated that he had to do that because the player in question is a very nice guy but rules are rules.

There is no way a TD can, will, or should call every player every time they have a match. There are times (like with Earl's match) where the start time is later than scheduled due to the match from the previous session taking a long time. At that point a TD might make an exception to call a player to advise them that their table is now open and they're on the clock.

I'm not really a fan of this TD because I've seen his power trip in the past. In this instance with Earl, I support him 100%. If more people held Earl (an adult) accountable for his own actions, we wouldn't have all of these threads about Earl being DQ'd because he would have to behave like an adult or not be able to afford to eat.

Exactly. So Earl gets booted encase he has the gaul to question where is opponent is 25 mins after that match was to start and the director wants to call the director... But a day earlier he tells a player sorry about your luck you should be here on time. Call it evenly is all I'm saying.
