Dovetail for Sherline

I bought the long mill bed(18 inch I believe), but with the head and tailstock it isn't long enough.....sigh... on the bottom the are dovetails machined. I have looked through Sherline parts and used the search function, but I cannot find anything specific. I believe they are 55 degrees and am wondering if anyone has a bed that is around 48 inches? I suppose I could just buy another bed for.....175.00....

I heard years ago that they used 60 degree dovetail. I do not know of any place besides Sherline to get their bed confirguration.

Sherline says they are 55... I suppose I could be patient and make one after I finish spending money getting my "bargain" mill up and running...

I could also use a bed that is that long.

All have all the 4th axis parts, just not the length bed I need..

Since they are making it 55 degrees instead of 60 degrees, it will be a pain to build yourself. Having a custom 55 degree cutting bit made will be expensive. Sounds like they will be much less hassle and expense to buy from than trying to do it yourself.

I was thinking about making a t-slotted bed out of 6061, and forget the dovetail. Sherline has the specs on their site. This is one of those things where I should have thought a bit harder before purchasing.

why use 6061?
tooling plate-7079 ,dural 79, 7075, 2024 will all be alot better choices, unless hard annodizing is being planned.
