i don't see anything about end mass reduction for low deflection which is what z2 is all about?

also what is the custom joint? uni-loc radial?

I emailed Dale Perry and he responded that it was a low deflection shaft. It is made much like the Z-2 with pie shaped pieces. He sells other shafts that seem to be comparable to Predator's 314 shaft as well. The DP-Rx has a 11.75 mm tip size and taper that seems to be the same as the Z2. I also asked about the joint size and he told me "The radial pin is its own unique size and thread."

I was thinking of purchasing one and was wondering if anyone has tried one?

pie shaped pieces are for radial consistency, not low deflection. I'm interested in how exactly he makes them low deflection.

That sucks that the radial pin is its own unique size and thread, I was thinking about getting one to put a Z2 or OB2 on

I was under the impression that all radial pins were the same size and thread. If there is no standard for radial pins then it sure makes it hard buy stuff.

Do you think he meant that All radial pins are the same size and thread which is unique to them?

I was asking what size the pin was, i.e. 3/8x10 and he replied that it is its own unique size. I guess this is so you have to buy shafts from him but I am not sure. It seems odd to me if that is what he meant.

I was curious because I ran into a guy a few weeks ago who had a Dale Perry and he was using a Predator Z shaft on it. It did not occur to me to ask him if he had swapped out the pin on his cue.

I sent Dale an email this morning asking him specifically if his radial pin was unique. I have a DP cue with the DP-R shaft but I need some joint protectors so it would be nice to know what fits.

I don't know much about the DP-Rx shaft compared to the DP-R but I can say the DP-R is a huge improvement over the Scorpion cue I was playing with prior to the DP.

The radial pin has is unique in that only the creators and manufacturers know the exact dimensions: threads per inch and pitch. Some specify that its 3/8 x 8 or 3/8 x 7.6 or somewhere along those lines. If you wanted to get an after market shaft for it, a commonly manufactured shaft tapped for the radial pin should fit fine.

PS. There are also two types of radial, the original UniLoc Radial pin, used in Dale Perry cues, and theres the imported radial, which is called the knockoff radial, or 3/8 radial or 3/8x8, and they are on alot of cues made overseas.

The last Dale Perry I had sold last week it was made in 2008 and an OB2 Radial threaded it with no problem.
