Best Troll Story ever, enjoy.
It’s hard to know where to start, it’s gone on now for over a month, it’s left me shaken, not stirred. In the end, I will simply ask if my return policies are to kind.
Before I get started, my return policy on ebay is 2 weeks, full refund for any reason, no questions asked, even if you send me something I have never seen before to put on the cue, even if it’s a custom order, I smile no matter what.
It all started on ebay, a customer asks “how much ferrule material will it take to make a 5/8” Ferrule.” At first, I could not understand why this was asked 3 times, at which point I asked the customer to not pay until I see the material AND I get the work finished. The buy it now was immediately hit and paid for, I am now obligated with ebay.
I get the material and both ends look as if they were cut using a hammer and chisel, (customer said later he used a hacksaw on one end, the person he bought the material cut the other end.) I look at the material and smile, customer asks how it went working with it and I said that it cuts like butter, no complaint from me even though it took extra time.
Customer gets the cue, says it’s beautiful but does not like the bumper, he believes I cheated him out of value, I offer to send a thicker one, no response. 5 days later, strange complaints about the cue but he would be happy if I would add a weight bolt at my shipping expenses both ways, there were more requests, I knew some was wrong.
At this point the customer did a great job of providing some pictures, I am stunned at what I am seeing, I ask that it be returned for a full refund.
What I seen in the pictures would make anyone ask one simple question, why was it not returned the minute the box was opened? It was that bad but not what I sent out, no chance.
The cue was modified, worked on or damaged in shipping, no problem, full refund regardless of anything in the world.
Being self employed since 1988 I have always heard people telling me that when you’re in business, an unhappy customer who wants something for free will always pop up.
That is where my love of this whole story comes into play. Sitting around campfires, telling stories with friends and laughing, I realized that after all these years, I have never had that one customer to laugh my a$$ off at, I now have one and it came down 32 cents from a Doctor.
The two weeks go by and in the final hours, buyer tells ebay he wants a return, I immediately agree.
Customer how has one additional week to put it in the mail, he did it on the second to the last day, that is 3 weeks with my cue, again, full refund with a smile no matter the situation.
Cue gets to me with a hole in the box, one end was not even taped, I look at the cue in person, my suspicions are correct, the cue will never be sold again.
I tell the customer all is good, full refund given without argument, I know there is nothing I can do but smile, it was the only actual refund of 2016.
Customer is also demanding that I pay for the ferrule material, I say no problem and smile. Then he wants the postage it took to send it to me, I smile and say, no problem, how can I pay? Can I send paypal? I joke and say to make a listing on ebay for a CLUE, I will smile and buy the clue and we are all happy.
At this point, I was told to use paypal as Friends or Family to pay the final $8.47.
Finally, I have had enough. I said he was not Friend or Family and I would never lie to paypal, I have never used that method and I tell people to never use it. Had he allowed the regular paypal, it would have been done.
The difference? 32 cents.
I am then told that I am not smart enough to figure out the paypal.
Then I am told to up my meds, funny, I see trolls use that crap. I am the type that has rarely used aspirin in life, once had 3 wisdom teeth removed at the same time and refused pain killers, at 52, I may be one of the most med free humans out there. My one day off per week is usually hiking 10-15 miles thru rugged terrain and mountain trails, I am in great shape, no meds needed.
At that point, I asked that he stop bothering me. He tells me again that I need to be on meds, he keeps trolling me for an angry response that will make ebay upset with me, I don’t give in, I ask again that he stop bothering me. He tells me that the advice he gave is great advice and I should listen, I ignore the final trolling attempts.
This is where, if you have ever been trolled, you will smile, my turn.
You see, a Doctor of Pharmacy who recommends meds to a person he has never met, who is 3,000 miles away and is not a patient, in my humble opinion, has now created a problem for himself.
I run this briefly thru a wonderful person who happens to do all the credentialing at a local Hospital, she consults with others and they are so stunned at what this Doctor has done that they immediately get me in contact with the Licensing Board in his State.
Not only did I get the paperwork online, I am being encouraged to file it immediately, imagine how many other people he has done this to.
I wake up this morning and find he filed my only negative on ebay.
Dr Troll and the 32 cents, I have been trolled by the most professional troll I can imagine, one who understands blood pressure and stress levels like no others on the net.
Should I change my kind return policy?
Thanks, smile, good day.
