Dr V's Custom Magnetic Chalk Holder Review

I just received my new chalk holder last night, I have always been a fan of having chalk right on my hip, it allows me to concentrate on planning my run or play safe ect., my first magnetic chalk holder was the thin metal holder that slipped off your pants pocket and let the chalk roll under the table, I didn't want the other types of chalk holders, stopped playing pool for about 10 years and started playing again 1year ago, I was surprised that there weren't many magnetic chalk holders available, finally found one called Crical, not bad for the price but made of plastic, I wondered how long it would last, the magnet was better but found that my $20 Taom V10 chalk was rolling under the table, the whole idea of having the chalk holder was not to have to worry about losing my chalk, so I hear about this new magnetic chalk holder Dr. V's, I hear the magnet is the strongest, went to the website and was underwhelmed, it looked nice but was it made of plastic? Do they have a Taom clip for the holder? I asked the questions and they responded right away, I had some Seybert's bucks so I gave it a try, this chalk holder is really thought out well, the clip that goes on your pants is about 2 1/2 inches long so the chalk sits a little lower than most clips, it feels more natural to me, the clip doesn't slid around won't just slid off your pants pocket, so far so good, the magnet is not strong , it is RIDICULOUSLY STRONG, I was putting the chalk in the part that holds the chalk where the magnet is and from about 1 1/2 foot away I saw it pulling the belt clip towards the magnet, You won't have to worry about bumping the table and the chalk falling off, I found the best way to take the chalk off the clip was to just push down on it at a 45degree angle, when you go to put it back it flies back to the holder. The website said that the Toam chalk would fit in the Predator Pure chalk octagon holder and that's why they didn't make a holder specifically for the Toam, I am using the V10 version and it was too loose, nothing a little Gorilla tape didn't fix, shot for 2hours last night with no problems, even comes with a cover to keep you cue case clean, best magnetic chalk holder I have ever used, very happy I tried it. https://seyberts.com/collections/ch...agnetic-pocket-chalker?variant=42486601777350

Needs some tape, no thanks. I bought the one with the pencil looking thing that slides into your pocket. The holder is round and holds the V10 very tightly.

slid v. slide?! I'll give your spell checker the orange crush.

Why do you need a magnet and plastic?

There is an ad on ebay that claims they are made by Peradon:

$40.....wow...and they are selling?....impressive....

Honest opinion....

I 3D print as a hobby......I made a chalk holder because I wanted a cover for the case...and did not like the hard plastic ....way too breakable........I designed what I call a comfort grip....has finger indents and a friction fit top for when stored in the case....I have made them for friends and put initials on them or something else custom depending on what they want.

I print them in TPU which is a flexible rubber like material.......Not "crack-able" by leaning against the table, stepping on it....etc......and easy on the fingers chalking...

$40????.....Dang....would be easy to add a magnet.....perhaps I need to source some high powered magnets on Amazon and make a clip........

I purchased one of the Dr. V holders and they are engineered and made well, and the magnetic elements are probably the strongest on the market. I would recommend that holder for certain audiences for sure. This is coming from someone that makes and sells [what I think] is a better chalk holder than Dr. V for many/most applications.

Bottom line is that people buy well made chalk holders at various price points, including mine and the Dr. V holder.
