Drills vs Game Time

When practicing at home, is there a ratio of time spent between drills and game play.

I realize that game play at home by ones self isn't the same as an actual opponent, but should there be equal time spent on drills and game play or should there be more time spent on drills vs game play?

Thank you,

Steve

Hi Steve. What kind of drills are you doing?

Hi Steve. What kind of drills are you doing?

I have been trying to practice the drills for about 45min after a 2-3 rack warm up time. Then I like to play straight for a hour or better if I have the time. I biggest concentration right now has been ball control.

I just purchased "The Advanced Pro" book and have been starting some of those drills as well as some rail drills to help improve those shots.

I've never read that book, so I'm not sure which drills they are.

If you're going to do drills for straight pool, might I suggest trying to run out a totally open rack without touching another ball? And then when that one gets tiresome, try to run an open rack without touching a rail?

Both of these drills are dynamic - they will keep your attention while focusing on many different things.

Hope this helps...
