Drills

Before a tournament you may have time to a table to work on some drills. How about league play? Where there isnt an open table and everyone else is trying to practice. So if your lucky and rotate games for everyone on your team. Lets say you get two games agaisnt someone for your practice time. What's are you focused on? Table speed and rails. Is there some type of drill to do while actually playing?

My team will play scotch type pool amongst ourselves. Firstly straight pool for a rack or two to get the arm moving then scotch doubles..

I have this same problem at league. I want to do some drills but it just isn't possible most of the time. When I get my turn on the practice table I don't try to play to win. I play shots that I want to practice (i.e. playing inside spin on a shot you might not normally just so you can get the deflection down). Since it is practice there is no downside to losing.

Is there any reason you can't warm up at home on the kitchen table?

Throw a blanket across the table, set up some barriers of boxes, and grab a couple of old pool balls.

All you need to "feel" the stroke.
