Please be aware a big storm is coming in tonite thru Tuesday, and that means snow in the mountains between Sacramento and Reno.

Take chains if you have them and allow for extra time. Try to only drive over the hill (Donner's Pass) in the daytime. At night it can be treacherous.
If you are already entered, you do not have to be there until Wednesday by Noon. And even if you're not entered yet, you can still get in on Wed. morning.

Please everyone, drive carefully. About 15 years ago, Keith, Cecil, Bill Mielke and I were in a horrible accident up there in a snow storm. Luckily no one got killed, but I haven't forgotten how bad driving conditions can get on that hill.

It has been pouring, and I mean POURING, for hours and hours here and I'm only a couple hours west from Reno so it is going to be a mess driving up.

Take Jays advice, it could be pretty scary going up if you're not smart and prepare for the conditions.

I'm in Sacramento and it hasn't stopped raining since yesterday. I checked the weather report and it is supposed to be snowing through the summit all week. Bring chains, drive slow, and allow 4 to 5 hours drive time from Sacramento to get there.
