Dufferin cue ID help

Still crazy after all these years

Hello,

A friend was asking about an old Dufferin cue ... any idea what model / vintage this might be ? It has the signature joint with brass threads. The aluminum collar on the shaft is loose and rotates, not sure what era or models they used this particular flavor of signature joint. It is not spliced (sorry didn't get a picture of the full butt section). It has a butterfly on the butt, not flattened like some snooker cues, and has no insignia/leaf. It has a single round mother-of-pearl (?) inlay in the middle of the butterfly, and another similar inlays mid-handle. Now that i look at the picture I wonder if there was an insignia/leaf at one time and the inlay oin the butterfly is a repair ... dunno. The bumper is rounded, and held on in place with a straight-slot screw (also maybe a repair).

Pretty sure it is a snooker cue as it has an eye-ball-measured 11mm tip.

Any ideas ?

Thanks,

Dave

Always nice to see Dufferins. I’m not that knowledgeable but I have a few Dufferin snooker cues that aren’t flattened at the butt.

An aside: if a repair and not just a fun modification, these repairs are a bit baffling. I’ve played snooker for 53 years and never damaged any of the 3 main cues I used for over a decade each. Do people use cues to hold up jacked up cars? As chisels? garden stakes? tent poles?

i don’t know if you are in Canada or not but the thrift stores sometimes have vintage Dufferin cues. I find them now and again for $5 to $10. Recently I picked up a mint Dufferin Marvel Superman pool cue and case for $20. I’ll give it some kid if they show interest in the game.

I am in Canada, in Saskatoon. Not my cue, have no idea about the repairs, but I can understand a ring getting loose over the decades.

I'm just referring to the glue that oozed out from the non-Dufferin bumper
