Dufferin Cue Identification

I've been playing around with a how to tool. I created a little video to explain how to add a photo. In the meantime here is a cool old poolroom image!

Does anyone know how to identify this gold leaf Dufferin snooker cue? What kind of wood?

There’s quite a range of Dufferin snooker cues. I know that one gold leaf has an ebony end ( gold maple insert) and maple the rest.

I only use one cue but collect snooker cues. I am far from an expect. Most British made snooker cues are ash but ‘I don’t think‘ Dufferin has Any ash snooker cues. All are maple with added exotic wood bits.

At one time a gold leaf cue was likely $250 so. Today maybe a $100 to a collector. These days you can walk into Value Village and find quality Cues for $10...$20 with a nice case. A lot of snooker players here in
Canada use Dufferin cues for Snooker and pool.

Re posting photos...I can’t figure it out either. Seems overly complicated instructions for such a simple concept.

Dufferin made a lot of ash snooker cues....they were popular in the UK.
They made a lot of cues for Riley also.

Are Riley cues up with a Dufferin name on them?

This was in the 80s when Dufferin was probably the biggest for house cues and production.
The Rileys gave no indication that they were made by Dufferin....
..I used to sell the same model in Canada but with Dufferin name on it....
...50% of the UK retail

Dufferin made a lot of cues for Brunswick, also

My instincts say that was made after Dufferin was bought by Chinese money.
...I don’t recall a logo like that when the company was Canuck.

I’ve never seen that logo.

Likely either old, rarely used and in good shape... or new. That logo is reminiscent of the older maple leaf used in Canada for all types of items. In contrast, the maple leaf Inserts on the Dufferins I have are the post 1965 ‘new flag’ maple leaf.

I don’t have any knowledge of Dufferin history.
