The Dufferin Glider Joint is the 5/16x14 piloted pin that looks like a JP Speed joint, not threaded all the way down.
The pin is screwed into an aluminum insert in the butt as we have seen in these forums, I have pics saved from Mike Webb's posts and others.
I am unclear on something.
If I want to put a fully threaded 5/16x14 pin in it, can I just unscrew the Dufferin pin from the insert in the butt and replace it with a 14 pin?
Would it require heat?
I thought I found a post describing this but now I can't find it.
I have a two old Dufferin cues in nice shape with this joint. I would like to be able to use them with other shafts, for example Joss.
I found this picture in an eBay sale and wondered if some hack was trying to change the pin. I don't want to be some hack. I can have it done by a cue repair person if I need to, but thought I would look into doing it myself.
