Is there any other difference between the following two Dufferin cues other than one has an aluminum joint and the other has a wood to wood joint?

DF10 Expert Sneaky Pete - http://www.billiardwarehouse.com/cues/dufferin/dufferin_expert_pool_cue.htm

DF-11 Phantom Sneaky Pete - http://www.billiardwarehouse.com/cues/dufferin/dufferin_sp_pool_cue.htm,

Secondly, which of the following online vendors do you all recommend (With which did you have the best shopping experience?)

http://www.billiardsauthority.com/, http://www.pooltables-direct.com/, http://www.cuecessory.com, or http://www.fivestarbilliards.com

Thanks in advance,

Get the wood to wood joint. If it hits well and you end up keeping it (long term). Have the ferrule replaced and the joint collared by a pro.

The Al joint is horrible.

My first cue from many many years ago was a Dufferin SP with the AL joint and even though the cue hit good, I too wasn't a fan of the AL joint. I recall it not staying tight. I never played with a dufferin SP w/o the AL joint, but have played with other wood-wood jointed sneak's and love them.

Haven't bought from any of those online stores so can't comment on the second question.

Get the wood to wood. Those stupid aluminium joints were the worst joint ever made. They would freeze together if you broke with it and it would take three men and a boy to get it apart.

Ack...forget that model. Move up a bit to the Dufferin Excaliber. I posted some links below. By FAR the best Dufferin cue ever made. Just picked one up luckily on ebay recently. Forgot how nicely they played!

BTW I can't vouch for the linked sites as I haven't used them. But, you can search around the web to find this model.

I bought a Dufferin Titan from goldcoast8ball on ebay, and was very happy with the sale. I've seen them sell Excaliber's on ebay, and they sell for a very good price, less than $100AUS, less than half the price listed on his web site. I got my Titan for less than $100, and it has the wood on wood joint, and plays VERY well, you just have to replace the junk tip that comes standard with Dufferins.

I've never had a problem with the aluminum joint on the five Dufferins I've had. Two of them are used strictly to break. Given the choice, I'd go for a wood-to-wood. Gives you a softer feel closer to a 1 piece. If you elect to experiment with shafts at a later time, you could always have a machinist make you up a pin to thread in the butt with a that would allow you try different shafts.
