duracoat?

I guess nobody has any thoughts about this stuff?

I am curious if anyone thinks it might be good for protecting a cue, and if they think it might be a viable clear coat?

I, myself, have never used the stuff and now that I looked at the information on their web-site don't believe it would be of much use for pool cues. If there is one thing that everyone agrees on concerning cue sticks is that the finish must be perfect and a deep high gloss. The shinier the better. They say on their web-site that the clear comes in matte and a semi-gloss finish. That won't get it in the cue world.

The rep said they had a hi gloss, and if you look at the link for their clears it says flat, satin, and gloss finish.

IDK, it was just an idea and I was just curious is all.

I don't believe I've never heard of it. But you might give one of their small set-up a try. For the price $16 + S&H. If it works for firearms who knows it might do a great job. It appears to possibly be either an epoxy clear coat or maybe an enamel with a hardener. :confused:

Yea I saw that too, and you don't have to bake it at all. And after 4 weeks of being fully cured it is supposed to be some tough stuff! But the guy said it would be able to be played with after 24hrs.

Yea that is what I was kind of thinking too! I think I am going to get a small set up and try it on a POS cue I have! LOL

Well my dad is about to do this to a couple of my cheaper cues. I will let you know how they turn out!

waiting on my dad to do the work..............he has been busy lately.

IDK when he will have it done, but I will post when it is finished.
 
Oh Well!

Well we tried it and unfortunately the clear isn't as great as it is cracked up to be! It doesn't have a high of luster as automotive clear. It is just as durable, but cost a lot more!

So I decided I am not going to try posting pics as we are about to sand this baby down and do it with automotive clear instead.

It was worth a try I guess? LOL
