dust collecter cabinets

A Hightower, but not the Deluxe

I built an enclosure for my Mid-Size from some scrap wood I had laying around and some plexiglas I got at Lowe's.

I use a flap of thin plastic on the front that keeps a draft going to the dust collector, but still allows me to reach inside when I need to.

My issue is when your working next to the chuck like doing a joint collar tenon. The chuck acts like a fan blade. I even have a hose right behind the tenon about 2 inches away and the chuck still pulls in the chips/dust and flings it around the room. The hose gets some of it, but the chuck seems to overpower it.

Dave an old plastic lid slotted or drilled and slid over something your turning will slow down the chuck fan and save a few bumps on the knuckles.--Leonard
