Dust Extractor

Correct, and if the door has good weather stripping it would also help keep dust out of the house. If you have fresh air intake in the shop with the door not sealed properly then the house hvac could pull dust into the house.

If say I'm sanding Sheetrock in one room I would seal the door with tape and cover all hvac vents so two things happen 1. Air is not coming into the room and pressurizing it. 2. The hvac return is not sucking it out of the room.
If possible I'd put a fan in one window blowing out and open another window for fresh air.
It's kind of the same situation.

Thank you

Spoke to an electrician.... said it will most likely work but it's not proper. I stop here... If I move forward it will be done to code for every reason.
Once you do move forward, how do you know that your air quality is any better than when you started. Does anyone actually test that or is it just assumed.

I don't know... and air quality meters are expensive. I feel a HEPA 1 micron cartridge is better than a 1 micron bag.
I don't think there's a substitute for a good dust collector and a respirator..that I have not been wearing. Paper masks are not any good.

You'll be doing better than you are now so that's good. Every little bit helps, I need to do better myself.
I took an old smoke eater from a bar and fitted it with pleated filters. Ran a 10 inch Duct in and out to circulate the air, but don't always use it because the unit is outside and it's cold or hot depending on the season. I also have a 4 inch vac system and n95 masks. There's still a layer of dust I can't beat YET. My only plus is I'm not finding a lot of time to be out there right now.

We need to take care of our lungs. They are not repairable.

Given I only work on my own stuff I don't do a lot. If I am going to create a lot dust tapering a shaft or sanding a sneaky I take my lathe outside or in the shed and wear a respirator there as well. Inside I try to limit it to doing my tips, shaft cleaning, maybe drilling a tapping a new shaft blank. For that I use the bench top collector and the hepa vac. Be better if I just handed this stuff to a cue guy but I like doing it myself.

I recently started using taom chalk. Never thought I would but was cleaning the heater filters in the room I play pool in and they were the same color as the silver cup chalk I got for free with my cloth. Wiped off like chalk too.
I play a lot of golf and am prone to skin cancer. I use sun block, floopy hats and actually have a cart with a UV umbrella on it. I am quite the site.
Seems most activities have some risk. We accept it or we sit in front of a tv till we tick off.

No risk no reward is right. We’re having fun. The goal is to keep having it.

Decided to go ahead and add the debris catcher so I could get rid of the screen over the hood opening. Seems to be working pretty well. Might need to add another baffle to slow the medium size chips. Some seem to getting through.

I had a competent local licensed/insured, etc electrical company come out this morning. Used them before ..very pleased. Said the
20amp garage door opener outlet can be tied into. That being the case I’m going with it.
The outlet will be set up to accommodate the Oneida mini gorilla. That is my choice for the shop. Thanks for all replies.
