Gabriels Billiards
For the first time in the history the Dutch National 3-cushions championships have been played at Carambowl- a brand new bowling & billiards complex in the city of Goes.
The tournament also known as the "2007 Masters" , has been played at 4 Gabriels Imperator tables. With 32 competing players it was elite of the dutch 3-cushion scene who battled for the grand prize.
In the end it was local favourite Jean Paul de Bruijn who claimed the first prize which he claimed as his biggest and most important success. This stressed the prestige of the 2007 Masters,as De Bruijn is a multiple world- and european champion in one-cushion.
In the phinal phase de Bruijn beat Raymond Burgman in the quarter finals. In the semi-final it was Dick Jaspers, who has won the masters tournament 13 times. Jean Paul de Bruijn finished the match with 3-1 in sets scoring an match-average of 1.916. A major upset, which resulted in the 3rd place for Dick Jaspers, who was responsible for an incredible match average of 3,571 in the group stage against Martens.
In the Final Jean Paul de Bruijn beat the youngster Jean van Erp; 15-10, 15-14, 1-15 en 15-2 made it 3-1.
This results that Jean Paul de Bruijn re-enters top 12 in the UMB World Ranking, and that he already is guranteed to shine at the 2008 World and European championship.
