Agree 100%. Good analysis and some good info in there for anyone who wants to play their best in short race competitive situations, which I think is just about everyone on this forum.
If Shane keeps thinking about his previous defeats by Darren, he's doomed to repeat his losses.
There is nothing to be gained by concentrating on your opponent in these short races.
Every player on both teams is a threat to run out every time, so the best strategy is play the balls on the table and forget your opponent.
Concentrate on the table when it's your turn and keep your opponent seated.
By the way, for the USA, Corey has the best record in previous Mosconi Cups, 25-17.
The rest of Team USA has a losing record (Shane, Dechaine, and Bergman) or no record (Woodward).
I think Albin Ouschan is the wild card for Team Europe. He's very intense and driven to prove he's a world class player. I look to him as the canary in the coal mine...if he wins his matches, I predict Team Europe will take home the Mosconi Cup.
