5 to 3 Bustamante

B. started out with a couple easy combos (1-9. 5-9) to take the 1st two games. Earl came back and won the next 2 to tie it.

Earl got unlucky with a couple shots to give B. a couple more. Rolls are going Busta's way so far.

Now, 6 to 3 Bustamante.

10-4 with a nice runout

Never used the WEI table.

Busta had the 4 about a quarter inch off the rail with the 8 in the way of the obvious draw back to the 6. He hit it super firm than to the rail then in the open and then it curved back perfectly. The announcers never saw it coming!

Earl shook Bustamante's hand and really meant it. Said something and they both laughed.

It only ...

took 20 minutes to play ... wow ...

Seems Earl only has a problem when things don't go his way.
He gave a good effort the last 2 days though, you can't take
that away from him.

Didn't Earl have a valid point though? When he said that with the way the format is, when a player lands in his position that he did, they have to play 7 matches in one day, yesterday, then get up and play at noon the next day.
I can kind of see his point.

I have seen Earl compliment Django's play before after losing to him. I think he respects Django and his playing ability more than some.

I don't care if I play 20 games a day as long as I keep on winning. Good thing this is only pool and not the UFC, before you reach the final, your leg is already broken. Congrats to Busta.

Lol :D

It used to be like that, Royce Gracie had to compete in 4/5 straight fights to win those first championships in the early years.

This was the lay-out, but I don't know how to diagram what the CB did. Busta hit the CB hard, with draw, and after contact with the 5, it went forward until passing the 8, then came back down table to the 6. Very nice shot, it even confused Billy I. because he thought he had maybe gone rail first but after replaying the shot, it showed that he didn't.

Actually, Bustamante went through exactly the same route to play Strickland. He just handled it better. Still, I was happy to see that Strickland showed some grit after his loss to Souquet. It's just that Busta made it clear who was going through and who wasn't from the beginning. That's when Earl, again, started acting in that defeatist way of his.

I think that's the price you have to pay when you lose. Right or wrong, those are the rules. If he had won the tournament from there, it would have been his favorite of all time, guaranteed!

He didn't go the same route as Earl.

Bustamante played 5 matches yesterday, Earl played 7.

Hard for anyone ...

To play 7 matches in one day, and count on at least 5
being intense tough matches. Even if you get some sleep,
lots of times a feeling of fatigue, acheness, and feeling
like you are 'brain dead' will be there the next day.

How many people have you seen play real good in a tournament
one day, and come back the next, and not even look like the
same player? That's why they say Pool is a young man's game,
because they are younger and have more stamina, and can
recoup a lot faster than when you are older.

I, also, have seen a lot of decent players that breakdown during
the life of a tournament, or a money match, simply because
they are not in good physical shape. And when you are tired,
you make mistakes, and those mistakes cost you.
