Earl vs Troy

It will be Earl Strickland vs Troy Frank for the hot seat in the UPA Atlanta Open. Troy has really been playing well lately. He defeated Earl last week in Palm Harbor. Can he repeat? Earl was having a lot of trouble with his break last week and if he corrected it then I say no way. But, who knows? I didn't see Troy miss any shots last week when he played Earl. And with his beautiful wife there cheering him on I sorta hope he does win it all.

I heard that Earl was spending a lot of time practicing at Capone's lately. Getting ready for the IPT I suppose.

Did Earl join the UPA? Or did they drop that requirement for this tournament?

After watching it last night, it seemed like Earl was being slightly hotheaded but Troy was still cool and calm. For example, when Immonen and Earl were playing, on the last shot Immonen stood up to shake Earl's hand in concession of the match but Earl responded by announcing to the audience "Mika's mad at me. He's mad at me!" I could tell by Mika's facial expressions that he was thinking, "Oh my god, here he goes again!" Kind of like the roll your eyes when your mom is yelling at you look.

What surprised me was when Corey Deuel lost to Salvas. I guess Luc's super-fast past just unhinged Corey's nerves and he started to miss and make bad shots and safeties.

Go Earl Strickland!

Looks like a great event for the spectating railbirds!

Troy Frank is hitting 'em STRONG. I keep seeing his name rise to the top, and he appears to be in dead punch.

It's hard to root for one over the other, but I'm cheering for The Pearl!

Unfortunately when I was there on Friday I didn't see Earl play a match, they were later at night. But he was coming in to practice a number of times at regular intervals and he really looked like he was hitting them good. I mean REAL GOOD.

According to AZ tournament chart, Earl is in the finals and Troy is on the westside of the chart. When was the last time Earl won a major tournament? 2002 WPA.

Can anyone remember Earl ever winning on Diamond tables? The only time I can remember was when Earl won a Viking Tour tournament a few years ago. I don't know if these tables are diamonds..
