Ebony SouthWest

This is a very clean, unique, authenticated 1985 South West. Their description.

“East Indian Macassar ebony nosepiece inlaid with six points of East Indian Macassar ebony,
bordered in a red veneer. Irish linen wrap. Base is solid Macassar ebony. The decorative
joint rings are black linen phenolic and maple with an 8-slot black/red black design.”

Butt is 17.2 oz.
Shafts are 12.8 and 13.0, both weigh 3.4 oz.

Cue rolls very straight, together and apart, not perfect, but hard to notice. One shaft had a small crack just below the ferrule repaired. It wouldn’t be noticed without looking very close. Shafts are clean and no dings or dents. Finish is not original, but whomever did it some time ago did a good job and its in excellent condition.

So why is the cue different?

This cue was sold to me by a reputable Azer as a Kersenbrock. I was provided an email from a John Wright authenticating it. He believed it was a Kersenbrock for good reason. The cue has the Kers. pin. not the SW pin. The shafts had, what I believe, are paper micarta ferrules. I have seen Kers. shafts with this ferrule and no other makers, never a SW.

I know the ferrule material, at least I have seen DPK’s shafts with it on them from that time frame or actually a little earlier. I got one and compared the ferrules. They are the same as shafts received directly from DPK.

Notice the ring work, its unusual for SW, although they did some similar, how many have you seen with these rings?

So this is either a very early unique SW or a DPK. Either way, price is $3500.00 delivered US only.

Sweet cue, I like those older type rings - GLWS
John Wright - I remember him selling Kersenbrocks from his booth at a Chicago tourney back in the 80s,, well he was calling them Kersenbrocks anway. He grabbed one and said these are the best goddamn cues around and slammed one down on the carpet and the buttcap shattered into many pieces,,,, it did silence him for a few seconds..
