Eason Cues service

I'm making this thread because I've seen a LOT of bad things about this guy on this forum. I recently bought a butt that was in less than tip top shape (and I knew it beforehand) but came in worse than I expected, possibly due to the very cold weather here. I was compensated generously for it by FeltMaster who sold it to me, so a thanks to him.

I recently sent an email to Jeff Eason to see if he would repair it. Based on what I had read here specifically about his bad service, I expected him to deny service or charge a lot. The problems: roll in the tip with a straight shaft, very slight wobble on the pin, butt's taper was messed up and it was thickest in the middle which probably added to the tip roll, and finish was messed up. Here was his response:

Hi Johnny,
it will only cost you shipping to me.I will take care of it .Just send it to me at :address:.send the shaft with it and I can make sure its right when you get it back. If you give me a # I can call ou also. Thanks

Jeff Eason

I remember him saying things about what learning, making mistakes but then denying responsibility and getting emotional. However, if you are nice to him, he seems like a genuinely nice guy too. I am not sure what to expect when I get the cue back, but I will update this accordingly.

Let us know how it turns out when you get it back. Just because he says he will fix it doesn't really mean much based on his other posts.

Don't do it!!!!!

Johnny, I wouldn't send him ANYTHING!!!
I am going to be posting a whole soap opera about how he has screwed me over these last 6 months!!!
I'll get into it later, BUT, don't be fooled by him acting nice, he is a snake in the grass and can't be trusted.
Not to mention, he doesn't have the skills to be able to fix cereal for breakfast, much less a cue.

when will people learn

Just when you think people have heard enough they think they have to see for themselves. Good luck! I bet I can guess the outcome on this though.

I doubt anyone is interested in your dealings with a banned member, since all other members here, except you, would never give a banned member the time of day.

He will be getting it early next week, and he will keep me updated, so we'll see what happens. I have heard that fixing butt rolls can be extremely hard and impossible in cases from a pretty well known cue-maker and sometimes it's better to just start over, and I feel Jeff Eason is being genuine in trying to fix it even after trading various owners. Even if it is not fixed completely, a refinish for free would be a much better condition than it is now and I would be grateful for just that.

Well, I am sorry about your experience. I don't feel that I have much to lose in my situation and will give him my trust.

Thanks for the wishes.

Try reading the first response. Those that don't want to deal with him don't have to.

Looking forward to your "Eddie Wheat" cue reviews, next!

I don't buy from con artists

I pretty sure of one thing... If you do get burned on this "repair"... DON'T TELL US ABOUT IT! I'm really not trying to be a smart ass, but just why exactly did you even post this thread? If you read the past threads, you should have inferred that he was a spineless thief and a liar, but yet you're going to "give him your trust" anyway??? I understand that you don't have much in the cue but jeeez.... talk about asking for trouble. Remember there's a REASON HE'S BANNED. And it's sure not because of his sterling reputation as a cue builder, repair man , or keeper of his word.

Bottom line

Why send a hacked cue to hacker for repair..It's like putting a bow tie on a terd...once a terd always a terd.....If you want to keep the cue send it to a reputable cuebuilder, and let him see if it's worth repairing...I know your thinking the price of repair is great, but I have a feeling you will always have issues with this cue..My thinking is non seasoned wood...jmo..

I don't know you are Mr. Eason but judging on your beginning post it sounds like you are talking him up or "potentially talking him up" for his free service. If I assume you haven't done research on here then I guess I could see the mini props, but there is a reason he is banned which you could probably get told many stories about. Just talk to the King if you need info. Regardless it is a free charge which is nice, but just be careful on continuing on with this subject here.

Doesn't this sound just like Jeff's english???
He could never differentiate between ARE and OR.....

I think this could be him sneaking back in......anyone else agree?

Good Point

You could be right. I have heard from The King that he might be back on AZ under another name and I was just a little trigger happy.

My apologies if I am wrong.

Actually I think he just missed an "if" before "you".

gr. Dave

I was a little confused myself, thank you for clarification. No, I am not Mr. Eason and I cant understand why someone would think Spimp13 is, but I think it's funny that people are giving me bad rep for this thread  but I guess that is AZ

If he couldnt build it right the first time what makes you think he will fix it properly now? Even if his skills have improved he will still have the same eye for quality and care for craftsmanship. The cue I had was horrible(I raffled it off for the cost of shipping) and anyone who would put his name on a POS like that does not deserve to charge for his services as a professional cue builder.

How do you know it wasn't mostly caused by whatever owners this went through? People like Frey and Joe Nielson have told me they have seen expensive well known cue butts become warped due to varying reasons, such as leaving it in the car. I will never know what caused it, so it doesn't matter to me, what matters is customer service and how it is when it is returned.

"Even if his skills have improved he will still have the same eye for quality and care for craftsmanship." I don't understand this statement. If anyone is going to go through the trouble of improving their skills, undoubtedly their eye for quality and craftsmanship would improve as well, as i think they go hand in hand. I'm sorry about your experience and we will see what happens in my case.

Just to clarify, johnnyz86 IS NOT Jeff Eason.
Give the kid a break on this thread, you have all beat him up pretty well.
And in no way are these posts Jeff's grammer, c'mon people that's alot of Red..I wondered what happened when I saw the rep in a PM from him!

Johnny,
I wish you luck working with Jeff, turning over your OB2 shaft to him is not advised however!
He still owes me a cue........are you reading this Jeff?

Lol, check the time of my original post. Drinking and driving doesn't mix...well so does drinking and then typing. It was a simple grammar error, but it is nice to see me getting hassled with a comment there :). Fortunately my itrader, and posts speak for themselves and don't need defended. Simple mistake....

What I meant by that is its easy to improve technical skills in anything, but its very hard to change the way you care for the work you do. Jeff has shown to everyone he has no problems putting out a poorly made cue, he doesn't care. Its very unlikely he will change the way he feels about quality. Its part of his character, unrelated to his skills in making cues.

I know the cue I had came from him that way. It was more than just warped, it had cracking, and even missing finish in parts, it didn't screw together, puddles of wood filler...etc. Nothing against you, and sorry if it sounded harsh. Hopefully I'm wrong and you and everyone else get a nice cue back.
