What is a cue like this one worth? A guy I know in my area has this cue that was handed down to him. He uses it but I would personally like to get it refinished if I could get my hands on it.

Be careful though, as a lot of these Taiwanese cues were knock-offs of Adam's designs and the Adam cues, from this era, with this degree of intricacy, go for $300 - $500. Adam's will have the pin in the butt (some Taiwan cues did to, so no gaurantee).

I've watched these cues on eBay for years. Since I was alive and playing when these came out I knoiw enough to avoid them. These are usually Far East imports (Taiwan probably) even though they say Brunswick. Brunswick was stooping to new lows in those days. FYI I've seen these go on eBay for more than $300.00 and never seen one sell for less than $100.00. I've played with these types of cues over the years. If you like shake, buzz, rattle, and roll you'll love one of these cues. Most of the ones I've used hit like a ton of scrapwood.

Here's your answer, but it won't be to your liking. The answer is NO. Many of Brunswicks records were destroyed by fire and flood in the early 90's. Many of the principals involved in outsourced, private-label production deals are deceased or being close-mouthed about the arrangements. Most of what is known is anecdotal in nature and learned by observation of auction sites like Ebay and hands-on. The era I'm speaking of here is primarily from the early 60's to the mid to late 70's. Prior to that there are historians and recorded history intact. After that still falls within the realm of the recent memory. It is a period during which Brunswick suffered from their past over-expansion, and an interesting period in their history. Perservere.

I suggest "The BLUE BOOK of CUES, 1st & 2nd edition will soon be replaced the 3rd edition.
Expected release date=some time between now & xmas.
TBBC contains many older cues and shows approx. values depending on condition cue. This book will contain many older Brunswick cues with pictures.

The Billiard Encyclopedia (ed I or II) has a lot of good information in it, as does the Stellinga's book. There is a company in FL that has photocopies of early B'wick catalogs - can't remember the name - something with Deco in it (help?) and then there is Joe Newell in Clay Center, KS (B'wick has referred people to this guy. He is a defacto B'wick historian). As mentioned the Blue Book also has a lot of early B'wick info. Have fun....doing the research and playing detective is half the fun.

Thanks Pizza Bob, I thought I was getting back into this sport because I love pool, but I'm also a baseball historian (collect pre-war memorabilia and write articles) so this is a natural cross-over. Once I had a couple of these old cues in my hands, it was impossible to not want to know more.
