I bid on a set of weight bolts for a Joss S/P cue that I have and won the auction. I paid $15.94 including shipping for the set of bolts with my credit card through Paypal and I had no clue that there was a problem until ebay sent me this email this morning:

Thank you for your bid on the following listing:

Item number: 260037617632
Title: JOSS Cue Aftermarket Weight Bolt System 2 -1oz 3 - ½oz

Unfortunately, eBay removed this listing because it violated eBay policy. We hope you understand that, due to privacy concerns, we're unable to discuss the details of this violation.

All bids or offers on this listing have been canceled. Because the listing was ended, you no longer have any obligation to purchase the item. If the seller chooses to relist the item, you're welcome to bid on it again.

It's getting risky to deal on ebay and i've about lost my trust in the way Ebay operates. I can't bring myself to take the chances I have in the past buying pool cues for large sums of money from a stranger and who would think you would get screwed on an item that cost $15.94!
Now, I'll have to call my credit card company and dispute the charges and go through the complaint process and I thank my lucky stars that it wasn't a large amount of money for a custom cue or something. All I can say is be careful dealing on Ebay.

Just because eBay removed the listing doesn't mean you won't get the item you payed for. Someone might have notified eBay that they were using a lot of high value cue names and that's why they removed the listing.
I know I once tried to sell something, someone made a bid, the item was removed because I mentioned a few other brands in the ad but in the end the bidder got their product and I didn't have to pay ebay fees to the charge of 40$.

Luckily mine did not actually go through since it was on a Yamaha Receiver for $1100 bucks I posted a bid for $10 over the last bid on a item with 4 days left and within 30 minutes I got a email saying I WON! I had suspicions and low and behold the item was removed also!!

My .02

I wouldn't buy a used condom on Fleabay. How many folks have to get beat to realize that the scumbag cons in the world have found Ebay is easy pickens. Do yourself a favor, forget about them like I did 2 years ago!!!
Sorry for your problem, it doesn't need to happen again!

I believe if eBay cancels a suspicious auction, Paypal will make a prompt refund.

As well you shouldn't. I have a gross of used condums that I'll sell you for $20 including P & H.

( Don't worry, they aren't mine. I picked them up in the parking lot )
( and.... it was tough re-rolling them all )

I won and bought an item a couple of months ago (the full 5 seasons of Ally McBeal) and I received my package as described. A week later, I got a message from eBay saying that the listing was pulled off of eBay because of infringement reasons. I didn't care. I got my package and it was a damn good copy too.

Like Dave mentioned you still might get your item. I got the same message from an auction I won last year and still received the item.

Biggest thing to watch out for on Ebay at the moment is the seller feedback.

Don't just assume because someone has 200 positive feedbacks that they are a legitimate ebayer. Often you click these to find out they received the feedbacks for the sale of 200 ebooks for .01 cents or for auctions that were cancelled but to the end user just browsing many see that number and feel safe, it just isn't true anymore though.

I dislike ebay and paypal personally. I hate how PayPal takes money from someone and authorizes and approves that transaction and gives you as a end user no furthur way to verify it so you go ahead and ship that item only to find out later on it was a stolen card or the person did a charge back or whatever. I find it shameful that PayPal thinks they can legally wash their hands of the situation and reverse those charges. They approved it as alright and they should be the ones responsible. Granted it has gotten a bit better with seller protection through ebay and such but the world doesn't end at ebay and PayPal is used for many other things.
