ebay? rambo? valadity

Looks legit to me. What comes off as phony to you. I had one last year that I sold to Tate that was very similar other than the player's name. He normally penciled the name, not in ink, under the finish. Thanks for showing this. It should get more action that it has now.

It looks right except!

Rambo's I have seen are not inked and the lettering looks brown not black as if it were burned into the wood. Also the letttering is usually thicker probably because it was not inked. Another thing is the butt cap. It is not the usual white bullet I am used to seeing. Usually the Rambo's were titlist blank cues. And that is another oddity. The cue is like new. That lettering hasn't seen 40 years I believe. Bogie would know for sure.

Well the "Rambo's" i have seen all have a red bandana and dirty singlet. Plus they grunt a lot and can't really act......:D

You are bad!! Had a good laugh. They are very stiff and have a Rocky solid hit!

Straight-Up Ebayer

I don't know anything about Rambo cues; however, to the best of my knowledge this fellow is an excellent/honest seller :)

To me from the one's that I have seen the ending scripts looked a little tight. The ones I guess are more elongated and slated more. Plus the script looked to clean without any bleeding into the wood. Just my opinion. But like anything in writing it changes with age.

I was just asking for everyone's opinion since I found interest in the cue.

Thanks all.

The joint looks right, but I would have thought that he would take the MasterStroke label off of the cue before passing it on as one of his. I might consider, if you are willing, to make an agreement with the seller to have it sent off for authentication at the end of the auction. I agree with whoever said that the seller is legit. tecunningham has sold many cues over the past few years on ebay, and most are older cues. I would recommend having Deno Andrews take a look at it. He know his stuff when it comes to the older cues. Would also consider using an escrow service if there is a doubt, but that service would need to be with someone who could authenticate the cue for you. that way, if it is not a real Rambow, you simply get your money back minus shipping, and the owner gets it back. You lose a small investment in the escrow service, but get piece of mind.

I don't know about you guys, but this has to be the worst Rambo script. Wondering if this is real or just someone's attempt at another scam.

If it is real I apologize to whoever this belongs to. Just looks suspicious.
The Brunswick label is from the period when Rambow worked for Brunswick, explaining why he left the label intact and why it is a normal Masterstroke design...assuming he signed it. Couldn't someone have simply ordered a Masterstroke from Brunswick and asked that Brunswick put the owner's name on the forearm?

It looks right. I think it's been refinished, but just cleaned up and straight clearcoated over what was there. It's an older cue. I have other examples of Rambow writing to compare and these letters look properly formed. The writing is in dark pencil. Once it's clear coated, it looks like ink.

It's not really "a Rambow". It's just a very nice Brunswick Master Stroke that Rambow personalized for someone. He did this for many cues and charged something like $5.

Yes, that's exactly what it is. For a few dollars he would personalize the cue for you.

I still have that one Scott and it's a great cue and it is a Rambow, complete with ivory buttcap, Titlist forearm, and a penciled name that looks like it was done yesterday. This is the cue that Palmer copied to make the "Model C".

The Rambow is the upper cue, the lower one the Palmer C. Below that is a close up of the penciling.

I think that is too high - bidders are equating the script written on the cue with Rambo having built the cue. Seems like a stretch.

You could do that, but then we would have to hunt you down and flog you to death with a Meucci.

my bad. I read it all wrong. must be the cloudiness of painkillers. heh :D

How much you want to bet we see that cue down the road back on ebay but without the label and advertised as an original Rambo
