Ebay scam

I just wanted to share a situation that I just went through from an Ebay scammer. What makes this one unusual, is that I think the scammer has actually sold a few things. I reported him to Ebay, and they have responded that the account has been taken over by an unauthorized person. The cue in question was relisted temporarily, and then the auction was ended by Ebay.

The cue was a Richard Smithlin, that looked like a fairly nice full spliced cue in the pics. My questions were about the full spliced blank. His answer to my question about the blank was "this is no fly by night cue, it was made from scratch". I think he was referring to a batch of brownies or something "made from scratch". I asked this guy a few questions that he actually tried to answer (in broken typed English). He got frustrated when I tried to push him into a correct answer, and then he started insulting me. I forwarded the insults to Ebay, and the rest is history.

This sellers Ebay name was "hijulian", but I doubt you will see him using this account because Ebay is aware of the problem. I was reluctant to name the username because I am sure that at one time "hijulian" was a legitimate seller. Ebay will help these people get their account back. I am concerned about this type of scam, because he knew something about cues, and other than some recent negatives, he seemed legit. I got suspicious because of bad feedback, bad attitude, and bad grammar.

I'm not sure that a seller having a bad attitude would make him a scammer ! I checked the person's history and seems legit. his last purchase was december of last year. if you got something against this seller for insulting you, it doesn't justify your action of calling him a scammer. sure, you have the right to get upset. but you have no right to call a person a scammer unless if he indeed is a scammer.

Something sounds fishy. He has 2 Smithlin Cues back up for sale, a Putnam, Excaliber, and a Schon shaft. They are up right now as I type. I'd think if the account was hacked eBay would have shut these auctions down too but havent.

exactly, eBay should have suspended this account by now if such scamming or account hacking was done. my account was suspended for suspicion of hacking but wasn't really hacked. just had a different address aside from the billing address which made them suspicious. crap, getting suspended for having a legal transaction.

anyway, I would say that I'm a bit weary. since a friend of mine who works from a particular software company warned me about eBAY recently. he told me that there are certain viruses that attack eBAY which are able to steal accounts, manipulate feedbacks and garner confidential information about the the user's account. kinda scary isn't it. that made me shoo away from eBay for awhile.

IMO, the seller is legit in my book.

Yep I agree. I'm not trying to take sides but I would think they'd shut the account down to contact the original owner of the account (with them it generally takes days). The 92.7% would scare me away anyways, but I wouldnt call him a scammer.

cuesblues post just seems to contradict itself IMO.

Whoever was responding to my emails, was not the original owner of this account according to Ebay. I did not report this guy as a scammer, I only reported the insults, with the intent that Ebay would uncover a hijacked account, which they did. I received a logical response from Ebay, and there is something going on with that account. Ebay said they were restoring the account back to the original owner.
