Ebonite Pool table?

Great question. I don't have an answer for you, but I have a very similar table I inherited from my grandfather. The table plays fine and well suited for family fun. I will say when I assembled the table I rebuilt allot of it from fresh material. Allot of the skirts and ball return was made of very inexpensive material that doesn't age well. For a few hounded bucks the table could be fun, but I wouldn't spend to much more.
Good luck

I just offered this guy $375 for this table and found out that its an Ebonite. I have never heard of Ebonite tables before. The table looks brand new. Plays well for an 8 Footer. Just wondering if this is a decent table. Its 3/4 inch slate I believe. http://boise.craigslist.org/spo/447284098.html

They were in Hialeah Florida but were a very low quality tables. I would not want one as a gift. Surprisingly Mosconi was their representative for a while after Brunswick caned him. Danny DiLiberto was to also work for them and Mosconi put the kibash on the deal.

Sides look like particle board to me. Personally, I would pass on the deal. I have seen Gold Crown's go fo as low as $750 (9 footers) on ebay. I don't know how serious you take your pool game, or plan to, but personally I wouldn't own one unless you had no other choice. Hey, a crappy table is better than no table at all.

DO NOT BUY THAT TABLE !!!!!! I bought the exact same table for 300$ on ebay. they r junk! its all particle board with plastic pockets. The rails r even made out of particle board, All my cue ball did was hopped when came off the rails because the particle board rails warped and the rubber cusions were not at the right hight, and i could never fix it.. You,ve been warned. and the company was owned by brunswick at one time.

Don't get it

Im kinda bumbed now :(
Which would you rather have, to be bumbed with $375 in your pocket or be bumbed with $375 less in your pocket? (that's a retorical question)

Seriously, I would think the garage would be even a worse for a table built like this. Temperature and humidty fluctuations would probably really do a number on this table.

How many hours do you plan putting on your table per week?

Check out Craig's List for tables as well. Some very good deals on there.

10-20 Probably maybe more.
Trust me on this one...buy a well built table, you will have no regrets. I know what you are going through. 15 years ago I knew what I wanted (Brunswick Gold Crown). Ebay wasn't around and don't even think internet service was provided back then, at least not in my area. The only way I was able to look around was through billiard publications (Billiard Digest and Pool & Billiard). Even then they were running around $2500-$3500....too much for me. Some friends and I went to a bowling alley one Saturday night and there set 10 empty GCI's. Nobody was playing on them and for a good reason, cushions were held on by gray duct tape and rips in the cloth were repaired by clear packing tape. For whatever reason I went to the owner and asked if he was interested in selling one of them. He said he had them sold to a guy in KC for $800 each. I told him I would give him $1000 tomorrow for one. He agreed. I went and got a cash advance on 3 different credit cards.

Morale of the story, I looked for a table for 8 months or more and yes, it was painful, but nothing compared to the joy the table has brought to me the last 15 years and (hopefully) another 30 years to come.

Good luck,
Matt
