Have a cue with Ebony in the wrap area finish keeps wearing off have taken it back a couple of times to builder and still have same problem. Don't want to sand it myself, tried some Tung oil looked great till I played a few games was thinking maybe car wax? Any suggestions?

Send the cue to some one else to put a finish on. It's very apparent that the finish is not thick enough in the handle area to accommodate the wear from use.

That's what I think also, just trying to get it looking better for the rest of the season about two more months. Does Ebony make a difference?
What type of finish was used on the cue? When you say wearing off a flag comes up saying it was a sub standard finish. Or possibly an oil type finish. Ebony by itself can be polished to a pretty high gloss with no finish at all however it will wear off.

Don't know what finish was used, I've seen a lot of his cues and this one is the only one I've seen do this not only the wrap area but the tail piece also what do you think of car wax as a temporary fix?

Send it to a cue maker and specify that you want a automotive clear coat finish.
I doubt that clear coat is what is on that cue now.
Unless you are using a glove made of sandpaper, clear coat will hold up well.
