Ebony-Rosewood-Cocobolo Butts

Ebonies and rosewoods differ slightly in their densities . There are many many variations of rosewood , cocobolo included . Closer to the equator the darker the color and more even grain patterns . The cause is the lack of variation in temp and climate . Further from the equator you get wild grain and bright colors , such as Mexican cocobolo ... Ebony grows very slow and therefore dense . It's personal preference on which wood plays best . If you core all of them you miss out on the flavor each piece has . Sometimes it's necessary to core , not always . The ebony , in my opinion gives a sharper hit and a little more feel when used in a front . Alot of makers use it . I also like the cocobolo , but try to find the straighter grain if possible. Quality construction is paramount in how a cue performs and it's reliability . Good luck ...:eek::wink:
