I was just curious if any folk out there knew an old Nashville pool player named Eddie Kaline. I knew him years ago when he was well past his prime. He had fallen into hard times . Spent quite a spell homeless. At that time he was living in a motel on Thompson Lane in the Berry Hill area. He was a delight to be around as we got on rather well. Even then he was a good player, just hardly ever played. He seemed to take a shine to me and would play if I was around. He was a very likeable fella with a wealth of knowledge. Once in a while he would share a story or two but not often. In Nashville at that time he was somewhat of a local pool legend.

Billy - I knew Eddie well, since high school. We worked together off and on for 10 yrs. I understand he died several yrs ago. At one time we had a beer joint together on Nolensville Rd near the fairgrounds. His name is spelled Koellein. If you google that you will see where Eddie was astute at chess and miniature golf as he competed all over the country in both and won many tournaments. Very talented in more than one area. We hustled pool in Nashville for 10 yrs after he got out of the Navy. He was a much better pool player than a gambler so he stayed broke much of the time. A fellow named Bingo was the best player in Nashville or probably Tn as well back then and I think Eddie was second best. I miss Eddie very much and do appreciate your post giving me the opportunity to remember Eddie once again as I write this. If you would like to know more about pool in the 60's I could tell you a good bit.

I hardly ever come to azbilliards anymore. But just out of the blue I punched n Eddy Koelleins name, spell wrong of course on the internet and your response popped up from last month. Thank you for the response. I had a real soft spot for Eddie. Used to play him all the time on Thompson Lane near Nolensville Road. I can't remember the name of the place but it was right next door to the twin kegs bar. Of course Eddie didn't live too far away and every once in a while he's stop in. I'd get him a couple of drinks and we would talk or maybe go down the street to Shoney's and get something to eat. I was a pretty sporty player myself back then. But like Eddie I was dealing with my own demons. I live in Woodbine back then and I will pop in Fairly frequently just to see if Eddie was around. He liked me cuz I because I could really play and like him I was a pretty decent human being as well. I liked Eddie a lot. I miss him and I do think about him from time to time. I'm currently coaching several players and I think about the times that he worked with me. He would give his time freely to someone who was good enough to execute what he showed you and was willing to do so. I hope to hear from you again perhaps someday we can exchange numbers to talk to each other on the phone that we would really be nice. Namaste

Most of us here love to hear stories about pool and it being played now and from the past. Share a little....or a lot.
