Hmm... Good question. But "code name V" here in the Philippines ships cues to the US all the time, so there apparently is a way and it's fairly easy to ask him. Shouldn't be a problem.

You are running a risk shipping Ivory to the states. Viattorre has had cues confiscated.

Nice cue !! How are you going to get it through U.S. Customs ?? Bill
They cover the ivory with a removable black ink that looks like it's the actual cue.

When I was in the joint (juvinile facility in 1964) we had an expression. It was called a LOUD SUCK. That is what a snitch would do to avoid snitching. He would make just enough noise to get the attention of the SCREWS to look in the direction of the offending party! That usually got him caught. This thread reminds me of a LOUD SUCK!!!!!! Ya coulda asked him in a PM.
wjpjr, you have any more of that weed you sent me last week? It was a BOMB buddy!!! THANKS, PLEASE SEND MORE!!!!

How will the customs now that say the inlays are ivory and not micarta or ivory substitute?? Are they going to drill thru the finish and take a sample??
I have ordered several cues from the states and other country's that contain ivory, and none has been stopped or given me any problems(i live in Norway). As long as none of the documents that are sent with the cue states that it contains ivory they wont do anything with them, but maybe the customs in the US are different.

First off, obviously I'm not a devious criminal mind. I don't think my IQ scores would measure up to even a public annoyance. I meant, Viattorre must know LEGAL ways to ship it there. And who's to say its not SYNTHETIC ivory? I sure as hell don't know. *WINK WINK* I'm just doing my best to answer the question with my limited knowledge, so my humblest apologies to the ex-cons on the board for my inadvertent loud suck.

*psst... the stash will be hidden under the wrap in a secret compartment that only the secret knock will open ;)

Sad to say, but the ivory used is illegal unless you have the proper documents proving it is pre-ban ivory. The ivory used in Viattorre's cues are also illegal. Do they attempt to conceal the ivory? I don't really know. However, I do know that US Customs may inspect the cue and can determine that it's ivory (really, it's not that hard if you look under a microscope).

How do I know this? I had my very own custom ordered Viattorre cue confiscated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service!

To Jackson's credit, he promptly refunded my money and made no bones about the source of the Ivory.

I cannot recommend anyone in the US to purchase anything with any ivory in it for import from another country.

Thanks for all the helpful info guys. I'm just doing a friend a favor posting it for sale and will definitely let him know what the complexities are. I've had just one experience with a cue that had ivory, and I had no problems taking it with me into the US inside an instroke case and boxed up for freight.
