It is somewhat funny to me that apparently some knowledgeable people don't know what a pressed Elkmaster tip is. Including the folks at Pechauer and Seyberts.

I've only tried 2 ways. I have a 28oz Estwing framing hammer, waffle headed,
and a 20oz flat-faced with the stacked leather handle.
I've had better results with the lighter, flat-faced hammer.
I think it's because of the stacked leather handle though!
Best of luck to you though!
(that's how I press 'em)

I find the softest tip I can find and have them installed high as possible. I do the pressing when I play them in.
What is amazing is they mushroom a little for awhile, and then that slows down.

I bought a shaft with an Everest on it and I'm enjoying getting used to the new hit, but I'm seeing pictures of Everests
that have fallen apart. Makes me like single layer tips that's for sure.
