efren reyes 2000 14.1 tournament

I don't have this one on DVD - Thanks!!!

Ron:

I have this one on DVD -- I'd recommend this match to anyone for the following reasons:

1. This is Efren's highest recorded high run in straight pool.

2. Efren's patterns. They aren't "14.1 standard" but Efren leverages his legendary cue ball control skills and gets the job done.

3. Efren's cluster-busting. Nothing needs to be said in this area.

4. Efren's now-famous deliberate foul that cost him a -15 point penalty. I won't spoil this for you -- just watch the match, and you'll see.

Dallas West never really gets out of the gate in this one. He's suffocated from the get-go, and when he finally does get an opportunity, he blows it.

Watch and enjoy!

I won't spoil it either, but "deliberate"?

That's what Efren's table referee and T.D. termed it, Dennis. That's plainly audible in the match itself. No, it wasn't "deliberate" by Efren in the purest sense (I'm sure if he knew, he wouldn't have done it in the first place), but that kind of foul is in the rule books -- at least back then, in 2000 -- as a "deliberate" foul. I agree, the words "deliberate" and "intentional" mean the same thing in English; perhaps they should use a different word? "Serious" foul? "Critical" foul? Something along those lines?

Thoughts?
