Efren wins the Asian 9 ball in Singapore with
his compatriot Warren Kiamco with a show of
superiority (and of course wizardry, not bad for an
old man :) , who says he's on the hill already :o )
the score is 11-4 (or 3?). However Kiamco finished also
the cinderella run of Alok Kumar, the Indian, with a score
of 11-4 (or 3?). Alok Kumar is the same person who beat
the two great champions in the person of Bustamante and
Fong Fang Chao, and both were on a hill-hill and nail biting
match with a identical score of 9-8 (whew!).

On Warren this is his 3rd bridal finished in as many
San Miguel Asian 9 Ball tournament. Brutal, tragic, unlucky!!!
Or however you describe it, but life is like that and i believe
he is more happy beaten by Efren than anyone else
that does not come from the Philippines.
But this reminds of Efren's 4 or 5 time bridal finish on US Open,
isn't it? Maybe next time...who can tell..

Anyway, till the next San Miguel Asian 9 Ball on
Ho Chi Min Vietnam!!!

I really don't expect him to win, not that he is already out of shape, but there are too many of them to qualify for the finals. Anyway, congratulations to Efren, it seems that he won't retire unless a worthy replacement comes along. Also if anybody knows Efren, please suggest to practice extensively on snooker, he might grab one more world title before he retires. More money here in the UK.

Congratulations to Efren! Any word on how his son Frennie played? I heard he lost his first match. I guess skill with the cue isn't hereditary.....

I think Efren played a little snooker in his time. Just don't know his record, though. Anybody out there can enlighten us?

Frennie was thrashed in the first round by an Indonesian. 9-2 was the score if I remembered correctly. Efren doesn't seem to be encouraging his son to become a pro. He would rather want Frennie to finish his studies and take up a different profession. If I'm not mistaken, Efren won a snooker title in a SEA games event a long time ago. Joseph cues would probably know this.
