Efren's commentary - Varner vs. Media Accu-Stats

Ok, so high reps & lower weight? 2x per week Perhaps "Super Squats" ie. 3x20@ 405 or leg press 3x20@630
Deadlifts 3x20@350 Bench press 3x20@225 T-bar row 3x20@135 seated row 3x20@135 E-z curl bar 3x20@105

First of all, this is sick. I've never seen anyone put up 20 reps at these weights for any of these exercises, except maybe the rows. As far as your pool game is concerned, clearly muscular strength is not holding you back.

Second of all, for the kind of fit and trim muscle that would facilitate maximum pool consistency, this is WAY overboard. I would think your biceps would be fit enough for peak billiards performance if you were doing sets of 12 curls @70lbs, far short of your 20@105. If you're benching 20 reps @225 and calling that "lower weight" (I'm a pretty big guy, and I worked AWFULLY hard to get to the point where I could get 5 reps at that weight), then your muscle mass is probably even detrimental to your stroke, unless you do a lot of yoga or other flexibility work to maintain your range of motion.

I think Efren is still creative as he used to be. In the early days he was more of a shot maker, now he just plays perfect position so he doesn't need to come with crazy shots. The creativity is still there in terms of position and going for shots that nobody sees, just not in terms of having a fancy cueball. If you watch him play one pocket or practice rotation he still comes with shots and position that's ridiculous.
