Efren's "palm push" shot? What? YouTube video inside

So much for the importance of a 'repeatable stroke'. How can you rely on that stroke to be dead straight?

And how about the looks?-4 years ago and no change at all-Wish i could say that.

Great shot!

I wonder what the BCA instructors would say about that shot?? :D Did he drop his elbow? Were his stroke mechanics in line? Was he firmly planted in the requisite stance? Etc. Etc..... :D

Probably would get a firm rap upon his knuckles for that palm shot!

I wonder if that shot is something he thought up? I read somewhere that Efren often watches amateurs play as they sometimes make a flukish shot that he will then try to repeat himself. This shot falls right into that category! :)
 
I wouldn't have even noticed it if it weren't for the commentator shouting like a morning rooster.

And Reyes didn't crack a smile when he made it.

I'm going to the poolhall tonight to practice this shot.
 
that shot is great. this seems to be very similar to the technique allen hopkins uses on all his shots. align and then stroke forward. this shot was just improv though, at least to us anyway, and i think proves you can keep learning the more you watch the great ones.
 
I've seen Efren shoot out of reach shots like that at Hardtimes in Bellflower a few times. The crowd always gets a kick out of it, and it's not really hard to shoot if you're just trying to make the ball and don't need shape.

i've tried it and it works great if you can position your hand or fingers right. my hands are more on the large side so i had to come up with a different way to position my fingers. the best part about the shot is it keeps your initial "body line" over the shot more normal so your vision of the shot seems natural.

it just shows you,that efren is and has always been the best pool player ever.theres only five players dominating pool right and its unreal to watch and follow.i was lucky enough to get my cue signed in vegas this may from efren and you the funny thing is the phillipinios,watch out with this much money on the line they will kick ass.its a different game for them,pool is soooo much in there blood,unlike us,dont take me wrong i live for pool ,pool is my life,love it,best technacal game ever,mental,pressision,finesse,accuracy,one on one battle,theres nothing better than finishing in the top with hundreds of teams or a singles tourny.but they just have that extra kill for the win.good on em,hope we all do the same.

I watched this shot several times and other than being amazed, I could not figure out how the cue was supported with the bridge hand.

Can anybody explain?

You just use two fingers to lift the cue just enough to keep it steady, any way you can lift it comfortably and steady. Like nibrobus said, it's not that difficult, I've used it a couple of times in tournaments... but never in front of tv cameras against CS Yang though :rolleyes: ;)

EDIT: I'm not sure who invented this shot... I wouldn't be surprised if it really was Efren. He's the magician for sure (just watched Color Of Money yesterday again...)
