Eight ball s.c. style

I swore that i woluld never play 8 ball in s.c. again, but a friend talked me into it. long story short , I read rules posted, i am shooting match have one ball left, the three ball, the eight is in coner pocket ,I can make three off the eight. my opponent stops me and said the three had to go clean.He calls over the lady{ I use that word loosley}she says the three has to go clean, I said i am not useing the eight in combination, it is akiss, or curm shoot, I am ower ruled, shoot the cue in pocket, and said to he** with it. If any of you pool players are ever in the {DUGOUT} in Anderson s.c. please take time to explane to them the difference in combination-curm-and kiss shoot. thanks STICK

If you read the rules and continued to play, what's the complaint?

Sure, I know rules suck... and all the various bar rules are nuttier than the next. But, you paid to play, you read the rules... is the complaint a call to commonize all the little bar tournaments in the world under the WPA umbrella? I don't think so.

I'm 100% sure I just played a tournament that had more unfair rules than your scenario:

• 
  If you used something other than your hand to adjust the cueball during BIH, it was a foul (BIH to the opponent).
  
  Call every detail. If you didn't audibly call the shot it was... BIH to your opponent.
  
  No combinations involving your opponent's ball. Even if you hit your ball first and called every detail. Loss of turn.
  

These along with a couple of other looney tune standard bar tournament rules comprise what is fondly known as the Massachusetts State Eagle's Tournament Rules. Yippy.

But, it was a tournament, I read, I paid, I played. Could be worse. There could have been no tournament, no pool, and no competition of any sort.
