if that makes any sense. The buttermilk elkmaster tips I make stay the same much longer, I'd say 30-40% longer. I also like the feel of a penny or two thickness, but in my experience, it isn't enough meat to last for any considerable amount of time. To me, though, it is the grippiness and feel you get with an elkmaster as opposed to a harder tip that I like and so do many of the stronger players who are fundamentally already 'perfect'. It all depends on your game though. If you like to spin the ball more in combination with tip diameter. Some other players like a 13+ tip and keep their game very simple, using mostly center. These are the players, IMO who are the ones who like to use a harder tip. They move the ball around less and have simple, yet reliable pattern play.
I'm gonna try some buttermilk triangles. To me, Triangles are already perfect and wear very slowly providing you get a good tip to begin with. I do miscue more, though when trying to execute a high spin shot with lots of deflection.
IMO, buttermilk elkmasters are so far the way to go. I get consistency from tip to tip as well as 'good feel' for the life of the tip without wearing down too quickly which is what I look for in a tip. Snipers do the same only for the first 1/4 of the tip's life. After that, they get too hard.
