Has anybody else stopped using Elk Master tips for house cues due to the wear caused by the chalk when shaping the tip?
If you have abandoned any other tips, what influenced your decision?
What tips do you use for house cues?

I never quit using because of the quick wear on the tips I quit wanting to put them on because of their quick wear on my cutting tools. Pool rooms like them because they are so forgiving so that they don't mis-cue as often with amateur players so they consequently don't pop off as often.

Thanks for your experience Dick.
Sorry for being so vague. Wear to the cutting tool was what I was referring to.

I am currently using the milk duds from Muellers for house cues. They don't flatten as much as the elkmasters. I use a razor blade to trim with the lathe running in reverse.

I've got some "Milk Duds" that I got from pooldawg but I've never tried them out. I've only installed one for a fellow, who is a pretty good player and he was supposed to let me know how they played but he has never reported back to me. I don't know if that is because he is mad at me for talking him into trying one, OR, he doesn't want me to be installing them on his competitor's cues. Inquiring minds want to know. They are much more firm and solid than Elk Masters.

Quit using elk masters ages ago...too soft. Been using 13.5 mm Le Pros as they are easier to cut down and shape than the 14's. Still keep a box or two of 13mm for the cues that have smaller shafts.

Tried the Water Buffalo tips for a while, but they would blow out chunks on frequent miscues.

Pooldawg's are very good tips for the money.
I don't install the std elkmasters as the reject rate of the tips is too high for my liking.
I am sure if he did not like it, he would have been back the next day.
