Been a while! It seems I spend more time at the table then the computer these days!
I have been trying to learn English Billiards lately. There are some things I am not clear on.
How is the opening shot/break done? I usually put the white on the right side of the "D", and red on the foot spot, and the yellow on the left of the "D". I shoot for the red on the opening shot. I'm not sure if this is correct. The rules I found don't even mention the opening shot.
If the yellow or white is pocketed, where are they spotted? head spot or starting locations above? (if that is correct even)
In scoring, the rules I have say; Points are awarded as follows:
A cannon, pot white, pot yellow, in-off white, and in-off-yellow = 2 pts
A pot red and an in-off red = 3 pts
I wasn't sure what a cannon was so I looked it up. So it looks like a Cannon/Canon is a British term for a Carom. Okay, understood. So then what is an in-off? A carom into a pocket?
And if so, would I then a score a "Canon" + in-off + pot white/red/yellow? (whichever was pocketed)
Finally is a scoring Canon a carom off one or two object balls in English Billiards?
