Hello all, and thanks for looking. I recently got out of the Navy, and instead of stuffing everything into a "Navy" box and putting it in the attic, I want to get a custom cue made with a couple of my warfare insignia inlayed. Before I get anywhere with thinking about the design, I want to know if my ideas are reasonable. I have a Meucci cameo cue (97-28)... the windows with the cameos appear to be epoxy or resin filled. I was thinking that a rectangular window could be routed at the locations where I want the insignia, and once they were secured the whole thing could be filled with a similar resin or epoxy. Am I completely off-base with my thinking? Are there alternate ways you would suggest getting a good result? Is anyone interested in giving it a whirl? Thanks in advance for the help! Dallas

You might submit some photos of what you have in mind and see who migt be interested starting with a new cue.
You have to consider what the Meucci cue is worth and whether it it worth the effort to modify the cue into something by someone else.
There are some advantages for the cue maker to starting with new materials they know the sources for same.
Do you want to use your actual materials in the cue or duplicate same from other materials?
I would suggest doing some searches for miliary and MIA cues on this forum to see what examples you may find.

Hi everyone, and thank you for your replies so far. I first want to address the fact that I am looking for a new cue to be made with these materials; I brought up the Meucci cue to illustrate what I had in my head as far as a clear covered inlay.
In this cue, my ideas are as follows:
1. I picture it being 4 points probably, or 2 if the space requirements dictate so. In the base of each point I would want an EAWS or ESWS mini pin (sizes of each item listed at end of post). If there were 4 points, I'd have 2 of each on opposing sides.
2. I play with Meucci cues, and I like the covered wraps (as asinine as I've heard they are). I would like to use material from my dress blues for the wrap, and then coated. The material is a sturdy wool about the same as a pair of decent khaki pants.
3. Below the wrap, I have a couple of possible ways I'd like to go depending on what I can do. One would be to do the same things as in the points, only with the full size pins in a rectangular window instead of at the base of a point. If full size pins will not work, I would consider using more mini pins. I would like to include the ship's logo pin I have also. The only place I can think of is at the very bottom, below where the rectangular inlay "windows" would be. On a Meucci, it's where the script logo is. This pin is flat and not 3-dimensional, and it's can likely be curved somewhat easily, making it easier (I imagine) to inlay it in a normal manner.

Meucci used a casting resin to do the Cameo cues. What you are wanting done can be done with other methods also. It is not something I would be afraid to do, since I have laid a lot of stones and bead work in cues. It would be a similar thing to do. I am not the least expensive cuemaker on the forum either, nor am I the most expensive. But I feel I will give you a lot of cue for the money and do the job right.
