European championship

i will richard.

i was very surprised too. wendy isnt a showgirl, she is there as a pro and behaves as one. She is the quiet girl in the corner concentrating, even in the group she preferes to stay on the sideway or in her room alone to concentrate.

she just potted a ball (wrong one ofcourse, to open her pocket for her balls) but mentally she just didnt think about it, and continued playing. Ive had this thing happen before too. In the discussion between the coatches and referees, she said multiple times, she admits to having made a fault, but didnt consciously saw/think of it when she continued playing and defended herself of the acusation of being unsporty was just WAY to much for what happened. If there is no referee on the table, the opponent has the responsability to tell a player she made a fault if she isnt aware of it.

Its just like touching a ball with your clothes. IF your opponent doesnt see/ or see's it but doesnt realises it, and she doesnt say anything, she shouldnt be alowed to react on it AFTER the fram is finished, but she should react right before wendy continued to play. in my opinion, the original descission of the referee was the correct thing to do (even if u could see, the referee would have liked to do differently, the referee folowed the rulez)

Im sure if she would have .. (cant find the right word in englisch..) seen it, she would never have continued playing knowing it was her opponents time to play.

I think its unsportmanship of the dutch coatches to go find the rulesbook and go look for a way to get there win anyway. Its like kicking someone after he has been shot.

the problem is, on the website , there isnt any explanation on what happened. just that she was disqualified. This will surely leave traces for people who just read and react vs her.

i hope her name will be cleared as soon as possible, and our coatches will do the best they can to do so, by filing a new complaint.

thx for your import in this subject richard.

Sol,

Since I do not know what actually happened, I can only express my own opinion based on what I have seen of Wendy Jans.

Wendy Jans behaves more like a man snooker player if you know what I am saying. Wendy is very quiet, shows no emotion, plays and makes her shots then sits down, never moves when her opponent is shooting, never talks to her opponent or the crowd. You can never tell if she is up or down by watching her facial expression. She is very professional and focused. From talking to her, I feel that she has great confidence in her potting power and her skill.

I can only imagine someone who has so much pride in her game and herself, who always tries to behave accordingly on and off table, must be feeling very upset by this ruling. I hope she will know that her fans and those who know her will not judge her by this incident, and of course, I am sure we all wish her name will be cleared quickly.
