Hello.

Just a friendly reminder to follow top European pool action from EPC starting next week. The venue is located in Liberec, Czech Republic and I'm disappointed to say that I'm not representing Finland this year there. This year I'll be refereeing there and going to be there through the whole event. I hope I'm going to find a computer there to keep you informed what's happening there.

Here's the link to the official site:

Any AzB'ers there ? Am I the only AzB representative there ? Come on guys and gals.... :)

Mikko, good luck with your refereeing! Sure it is not worse than your game abilities ;) Hope you'll be present on the TV table so that we watch you via live streaming :)

im not going either :p but thats logic, im not even close to be playing that level, but ill sure be watching the live matches.

Mjanti, if u see some belgium players, tell them hi from solartje aka Bruno Ramos :)

good luck refereing!

ps will you play in the referee tournament? last year a belgium won it i think

Vahmurka: I'm sure they won't let me referee the televised finals, my Buddy Hall -like gargantuan figure will just block the view to the table from all camera angles

Solly: Probably I'll play that, but it's very informal tournament and winning isn't everything, having fun is. Of course I'll do my best to win.... When I was playing at the EPC 2005, I was one of the player -referees for that teamleader & referee tournament. Thorsten Hohmann was there too, actually one of the only top players to bother showing up. It was fun

isnt this the same time as Valley Forge?
are there going to be any european players in USA??

Check out the website and "meet the players", pretty much every European top player will be there.

dont think the big guns will chose to go to the VF if they can play in the European championship.

mjantti: u could have a nice chance to win the tournament.

ill be routing for the belgium wheelchair guys for some medals, for every belgium who is playing and ofcourse for Serge Das, who i hope will make it far. he is pritty frustrated with his last match on the World 8b championship he lost in the last32. He just totally blacked out, and im sure he will be doing his extra best at the EC this year and get more and more coverage once the world starts to know him.

Aha, told ya! ;)
Mikko Jahntti is refereeing a TV-table game! And not an ordinary one, but semifinal clash of Germans Ortmann and Westen!
Mikko, it was funny how you almost changed cut angle when trying to remove the ball marker :) (Westen asked to clean the cueball before the shot on the 8). Did you have a personal marker like snooker refs do? :D
Congrats Mikko! You are on TV during EC, you must've achieved as a ref what you didn't as a player YET. Hope Oliver doesn't have a reason to revenge your ref decisions when you meet at some tournament playing lol. (Meaning I wish you don't make any mistakes and perform good. May be they will pick you to referee the final 8-ball match)

hehe , mikko looked cool on tv :)

i wasnt sure that it was him, becausee u look alot taller on television :) but when i saw it was you, i jumped up, called my g/f and showed her the match saying: i know this guy !!!

:) u did GREATH my famous referee :p

could u tell us abit about your experience?
being a player vs being a referee.
how did the referee tournament go?

Mikko actually IS that tall ;)
After seeing ridiculous moment when during some semifinal or even final match the cueball was marked for cleaning with the use of two cubes of chalk! - I can say that you with a special marker are THE man!

im not sure i remember correct, but didnt miko post some months ago a post about where you could buy them?

anyway, the glass marker looks pro :)

now give us some good reading stories mikko

I'm a star. I will start sending signed photos of me for $100 each very soon...

Yeah, I refereed the men's semifinal and women's final in 8-ball. Using the the plastic (acrylic?) ball marker is actually very difficult with slippery gloves I can tell you... especially in front of tv cameras :)

Now, I'm too tired, will write more later on. 10 days of 14-16 hour days plus partying every evening and massive sleep deprivation won't my writing too creative. Or, it must be the 1 hour time difference jetlag... lol.
