This tournament started yesterday in Wijchen, Netherlands, with qualification rounds. The main tournament starts tomorrow. Top players include Frederic Caudron (defending champion, I believe), Jean-Paul De Bruijn (six time champion), and two players whose videos have recently been linked to on this forum, Xavier Gretillat, and Henri Tilleman.

Results will be available at http://www.eurobillard.org/ausschreibung/ausschreibung_detail.php?ID=160 and also at http://www.biljartevents-wijchen.nl/SBW/

If anyone knows of a site for live coverage, please let us know.

There's no live coverage but I just saw Xavier Gretillat make 125 in 5 for an average of 25 and Johann Petit made a run of 104. Some great matches to come in the final rounds.

Too bad there is no live coverage. I saw that Gretillat had a 5 inning game, and Tilleman had a 6 inning game. Petit's 104 was in the qualification round (only 4 innings), and then he upset De Bruijn in his first match of the main tournament in 7 innings.

Enjoy the matches and keep us posted.

Today was the 1/8 finals and 1/4 finals. The 1/4 finals saw some interesting matches. What was suppose to be the final according to the experts took place right away between Caudron and De Bruijn. Most consider them to be the two best one cushion players in the world. But today Caudron was just too good for De bruijn defeating him 150 to 29 in 5 innings. Simply amazing, the best average as of now. In the other 1/4 finals, Leroy was leading 86 to 19 (in 9 innings of play)against Zenkner when this one made a closing run of 131. Wow!
Just a personal comment. It's interesting to see the different styles. Most players have a "small" distance style. The best in my opinion technically is Gretillat (Tilleman is also very good). But what Caudron does with this game is quite impressive. He's not afraid of mid distance and long distance, if he has to play the 3, 4 or 5 cushion he will play it with no fear. Even Gretillat was amazed with the way Caudron plays. Definitely not by the book but very efficient (and much more exciting I should add!). Tomorrow is Caudron against Remond and Gretillat against Zenkner.

I know there's no live coverage, but is it being recorded at all? Kozoom or anything? Would love to see it.

Caudron just showed how dominating he is at this game by defeating in the 1/2 finals remond 150 to 33 in 10 innings and in the finals he beat Zenkner 150 to 35 in 6 innings. Caudron is the only player capable of averaging regularly over 20. Even if he dosen't make any high run over 100, every time he goes to the table he makes a lot points and mostly the difficult ones. He seems to know how to play every shot so making "miracle" shots for him is just another shot like the others. That's why he has a unique style and in my opinion (as well as others) is the best player in the world at this game. They'll be back at the world championship in Spain in May 2009.

Thanks for the coverage. Too bad no filming, would have loved to have seen it. Unbelievable, though, Caudron is the master of the small games, and close to the top at 3C. I always root for him, love his style of play.

Please post the details of the live Sevilla coverage.
