Can anyone provide me with a source for purchasing exotic skins for wrapping cues? They can be full skins or already cut for wraps?

Thanks,
Brian

What exactly are you looking for Brian? Do you want the real thing or embossed calf/kid skin? If embossed, do you want it light, medium or deep embossed? Patterns? Colors? Quantity?

I was looking for black lizard skins. I tried a couple embossed lizard skins but they were not authentic enough IMO. The quantity depends on the pricing and the quality.

Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian, try Tiger products.com

They are also listed with the American Cuemakers Association.

Do you prefer top quality center-back cut which only yields 1 wrap per hide (1 reason for the high price) or cross-cut which yields 3 per hide (acceptable in this industry). Another thing is, hides that are over 10" between extremeties (legs) costs much more.

You may not have tried the top quality embossed. They usually come dyed-through, consistent thickness and have patterns and pattern depths that faithfully duplicate the authentic variety. Of course you have to understand that with embossed, the patterns could eventually become shallow (major difference from the real thing).

Pricing also depends on quantity and quality requirement.

The cross cut will be acceptable also the top quality embossed that you speak of sounds much more acceptable than the embossed that I have tried in the past. Can you supply a source or some of these hides?

Yes I can, just let me know your requirements for the embossed. Color, dimensions if you want it trimmed to size instead of whole hides, thickness and depth of patterns. Other patterns are also available, such as ostrich, alligator, elephant, etc. Authentic is not recommended shipped full hide as you may encounter problems with FWS. Authentic longitudinal that came from the hides that I take mine from, since I only use center-cut 1 wrap per hide, is available too.
