Exotic wood box cases?

Always wondered why you never see hard box cases made from more exotic woods like ebony and cocobola is it just a cost situation or is there an actual reason like wood hardness or something.

If its just cost then why not custom box cases made from say something like driftwood which can give a unique look for essentially free at least in lumber cost sense?

They are out there. Go to some exotic furniture stores or jewelry stores for maybe some exotic wood cases for jewelry. They cost a huge amount, just like furniture made out of the exotic woods.

They are on e-bay from a couple makers which also have websites.

I didn't think they were too high ... but I haven't ordered one either.
